Remember back in early May when the first trailer for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie dropped. And it was utter trash. Like I remember watching that trailer and going why does this exist? It looked fun, but Sonic just looked…ridiculous. Instead of the 16-bit adorable badass I remembered, the studio gave us this awkward looking blue monster that looked like a 16 year old teenagaer going through puberty. And I remember thinking, you already have a visual of what he should look like. It's not like you had to create the character from scratch. Just look at what exists and give us that. However, I kept my thoughts to myself and wrote the movie off.
Well the internet saw this nightmare and said NO. And like not just no, but HELL NO! And the studio listened and what they responded with is PURE 24 Karat GOLD! All the changes made are in line with the wishes of members of Sonic's original Japanese development team, and now the movie not only looks like what a Sonic movie should be, but it also looks like something I want to see. With or without my kids. So hats off to Paramount for responding so quickly, listening to the fans, and giving us the Sonic The Hedgehog we deserve.
Sonic The Hedgehog will be out on February 14, 2020.
